Forests, muskeg, tundra; adults live on land, but breed in water. Eggs and tadpoles live only in water.
Adults eat flies, true bugs, lacewings, dragonflies. Larvae eat algae and small aquatic plants.
Pike, sandhill cranes, jays, crows, grebes, loons, mink, river otters; larvae are eaten by certain insects and fish.
Wood frogs can survive temperatures as low as 21°F.
